Description

The car is finished in “Pur Sport Split” white with gray exposed carbon-fiber lower body panels over Tangerine leather upholstery, and power comes from a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 with four valves per cylinder that sends a factory-rated 1,479 horsepower to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a Haldex traction-control system. Features include a 3D-printed titanium exhaust system, carbon-ceramic brakes with titanium calipers, staggered-width diamond-cut wheels finished in Gun Powder, Tangerine exterior accents, a fixed rear wing, black anodized interior trim, and carbon-fiber sport seats. Construction comprises a carbon-fiber monocoque passenger cell and rear structure. This example is finished in Blanc with “Pur Sport Split” gray exposed carbon-fiber body panels, a $225,000 option. The horseshoe grille was increased in size for the Pur Sport, and it features a mesh insert with a Tangerine #16 graphic. Additional equipment includes a carbon-fiber splitter that is wider compared to the standard Chiron as well as a carbon-fiber rear diffuser, rear light trim finished in Gun Powder gray, a black-coated exhaust deflector, and Tangerine Bugatti lettering and accents on the rear wing. Staggered-width diamond-cut wheels are finished in Gun Powder with Tangerine center caps. The wheels feature 2.5° negative camber and are mounted with 285/30ZR20 front and 355/25ZR21 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. The Pur Sport’s active hydraulic dampers are lowered compared to the standard Chiron, and the springs are 65% stiffer up front and 33% out back. Stopping power is provided by eight-piston front and six-piston rear titanium calipers finished in Tangerine over 420mm front and 400mm rear carbon-ceramic rotors. Weight reduction techniques on the brake pads and rotors reportedly contributed to a seven-pound weight reduction at each corner on the Pur Sport. The cockpit features carbon-fiber sport seats trimmed in Tangerine leather along with a matching dashboard, center console, headliner, rear bulkhead, and door panels. Details include headrest embroidery, black contrast stitching, and black anodized aluminum and titanium accents. A lightbar extends from the windshield to the center armrest. Automatic climate control, navigation, a seven-speaker Accuton stereo, and satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity were standard. The Tangerine leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel features a black marker at 12 o’clock as well as matching contrast stitching. It fronts black anodized paddle shifters and a 300-mph analog speedometer with an inset digital speed readout flanked by two digital screens. The digital odometer shows 5,400 miles. A plaque under the front hood identifies the car as one of 60 limited-edition examples. The Volkswagen-designed 8.0-liter W16 is based on the unit found in the Veyron and was updated for the Chiron to produce 1,479 horsepower. The engine utilizes a single crankshaft shared by two cylinder banks set at a 90° angle, with each bank consisting of eight cylinders set in a 15° V configuration. Each bank is topped by a single cylinder head with dual overhead camshafts operating four valves per cylinder. Four turbochargers push air through two intercoolers into twin intake manifolds, while the duplex fuel injection system utilizes 32 injectors. Tangerine-painted engine covers were optioned from the factory. Power is sent to all four wheels through a Ricardo seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, a front Borg-Warner torque transfer differential, and a rear axle with a transverse differential lock via Haldex electronic control. Both the engine and gearbox feature dry-sump lubrication with individual oil coolers that are among a total of 10 heat exchangers, the other eight of which handle the engine coolant, intercoolers, rear differential, and air-conditioning system. Top speed was factory rated at 217 miles per hour. A collection of photos taken during the car’s construction can be seen in the gallery. NO accidents or other damage.
